Launch of 3rd 'why women?' report
WRC have launched their latest report in the ‘why women?’ campaign. The report, Not just bread, but roses, too maps women’s organisations across all of the English regions. We’ve looked at the areas organisations work in, the equalities strands they focus on and have tracked income and expenditure data for 2004 to 2007. One of the key findings is that 1 in 5 women's organisations became inactive during 2004-7.
You can download the report, hot off the press, to read about the research and its key findings in full.

Valuing the BME Third Sector campaign
Voice4Change England has launched its Valuing the BME Third Sector campaign to increase recognition of the vital contribution made by BME organisations to civil society and they need your support in promoting this to MPs.
The BME Third Sector does a fantastic job in delivering services that meet the needs of marginalised communities and build equality, but this contribution often goes unnoticed and frequently unappreciated. Therefore Alun Michael MP has put down an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons to raise awareness of the role of the Sector and to highlight some of the crucial issues it faces.
To help V4CE develop the campaign outside Parliament they need individuals and organisations to contact their local MP to request they support the EDM. Don't know who your MP is? Find out here.

Fawcett report on women and the recession
The Fawcett Society has released a new report which calls on the government to take urgent action to counter the impact of the recession on women. It documents how women have entered this recession on an unequal economic footing that makes them particularly vulnerable to the downturn and sets out a five point plan that promotes women’s rights and economic recovery.
